Most of the online world is currently mired in an era of ‘targeted content’ – i.e. feeding you more and more of what you've already seen. If you visit a site or read a post about panda bears, Google and Facebook and every other content provider is going to do everything possible to ensure you see more of the same. And it's all about the money – if you actually bought a panda bear, they know that there's a good chance you'll purchase another. Or perhaps a panda bear t-shirt or a panda doll. Or a book titled ‘Panda Training for Dummies’.
From a business perspective, it's an approach that works fantastically well. And it's dumbing the world down.
You probably wouldn't use up your vacation time to visit a city EXACTLY like your own. That would be pretty boring and you certainly wouldn't learn very much. So why fall into the trap of seeing and reading more of what you've already seen and read a thousand times?
